Tour Itinerary

From Fort William you'll travel north into the natural beauty of the Great Glen, making your first stop for photos at the impressive Commando Memorial which commemorates the memory of the elite soldiers of the Commandos who died during the Second World War and offers stunning views up to the imposing northern faces of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor. Travelling on, you pass the Caledonian Canal, the pretty village of Fort Augustus, and enjoy wonderful views of Loch Ness as you drive along its 24-mile shoreline.

Loch Ness, at over 700 feet deep, is Scotland’s largest volume of freshwater, but is, of course, better-known for its sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, affectionately called 'Nessie'. Spend approximately 2 hours at Loch Ness, where you can choose to take a wonderful 5 Star Jacobite cruise and explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle.

You'll continue to Inverness, capital of the Highlands, for free time to explore and have lunch at leisure. Take a walk along the river bank, enjoy photo opportunities from the suspension bridges across the River Ness, explore the centre or learn more about the history of the city at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery.

Leaving Inverness, you travel south, via the scenic woodland of the Cairngorm National Park, and continue your journey past Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest whiskey distillery in Scotland, at over 1000 feet above sea level, yet located at the bottom of an enormous 'bowl' of encircling mountains. Your journey takes us near the scenic Glen Laggan area where a 700-foot wall of concrete comprises the Laggan Dam, and from here you circle back to Fort William by the attractive village of Spean Bridge.
